Did anyone in particular really stand out to you either in the 3v3 scrimmage or prospect camp as a whole? I only went down for one session, and was very impressed with Hagg, Provorov, and Freidman.

Looked like Lyon was the goalie for Team Barber, but I also thought I saw Hart in there as well

Seems Hexy's plan this summer has been to upgrade the bottom six depth on both sides of the puck. Trying to take some of the defensive pressure off the top six and maybe adding a little offense in the process.

I think Provorov knows he must be exceptional in order to win a spot on this team come training camp. He will be like a house on fire in training camp. (at least I hope so)

There's a hextall quote from yesterday that went something like "when you have 13 guys who know they are all nhl bound in camp you don't get much competition, we like competition." Probably referring to the fact that we had 15 forwards running nhl level drills last camp 3 being Porter vinny and umberger. So there wasn't any sense of urgency. This year I'd say you have 18-20 guys who could be on an NHL roster challenging for every spot. Love the moves considering were on a budget.

The six goalies rotated and were not on a specific team.

Did I just read " 5 shootout goals in the KHL"? Looks like a roster spot is solidified.

He also clearly wants to create competition for roster spots, and doesn't want everyone comfortable thinking they have a spot locked up. Some players are obviously locks, but he wants some competition in camp.

Camp is going to be fun, the only stone cold locks, assuming Schenn is re-signed and no one is traded, should be:

Goal
Mason
Neuvirth

D
MDZ
Gudas
Schultz
Streit
Ghost

Forwards
Giroux
Couturier
Gordon
Raffl
Schenn
Voracek
Simmonds
Read
Wiese
Bellemare

This will leave 2 spots on D and 4 up front that are up for grabs. They won't use a kid as spare Dman or forward, they want them to play. So, realistically, there is 1 D spot and 2 forward spots that a young player could take if they can earn them.

Those are Russian goals...which after a simple conversion using my handy Russian point conversion chart (Vladimir Putin edition) comes out to 42 NHL shoot out goals....I think I did that right

Laughton - Giroux - Voracek
Schenn - Coots - Simmer
Raffl - Cousins - Read/Weise
PEB/Lubyimov - Gordon - Read/Lubyimov

MDZ Gudas
Schultz Streit
Provy Ghost

I honestly dont know what is going to happen to read, i still feel like he brings some value to the team, if it wasnt for his cap hit he would be a shoo in, but i think hexy is looking to move some contracts, namely his, and streits, possibly even schultz who i feel is the least likely of the 3 to move.

i also think Lubyimov is gonna have to be borderline perfect to supplant read, PEB, cousins, etc.

Having Hagg and Provorov on same team doesn't seem fair, lol.

I still think someone from that forward group is getting moved or is gonna sit or play in LHV.

I don't think it's gonna be Dale Weise or even the new Russian player.

I wouldn't pencil Cousins as 3C too quickly. I'd like him to see him in camp acting like he needs to solidify his hold on that spot rather than acting like a vet who knows he's got a job. I like a lot of what Cousins brings; he's not afraid to get his nose dirty and has good instincts.

I think putting Scott Laughton on the 1st line is more wishful thinking than anything else.

I don't think he's done enough to warrant being handed that gig. While it'd be great to see him earn that job, I have a feeling that he'll be next to Nick Cousins and that 1LW job will still belong to Raffl.

I don't like Laughton on the top line either. You think the new Russian player is a lock to make the team?

I don't think he would have signed here unless he was going to be given a more than fair shot to make the NHL team.

IOW, I don't think he signed here because he likes the Lehigh Valley area. He had other options.
